Sandy - revisted

Just about everyone remembers super-storm Sandy a couple years ago. We posted our personal aftermath here. A few day back our wonderful neighbors finished cleaning up most of the wood from the five trees we lost, including this majestic silver maple. But dirt and chainsaw blades are an unhappy match so some cleanup was necessary. Now that the dirt is gone, this is what remains and we think it looks pretty cool. What do you see?

We've decided to wait until at least next spring so we can see it with a snow cover!

Deer

Not only is the number of deer on the rise but they seem to be getting bigger lately. Still no sign of any with a red nose though.

Sunset

Some evenings the view out our back window is better than other evenings. Last night it was spectacular.

Sandy

A few hours without power and only one tree down. But WHAT a tree! 80 feet of black walnut.

And, while Tim tries to figure out a clean-up strategy, we're thankful it didn't fall on our house like the next door neighbor's did. . .

Size Matters

Had to pick our first tomato of the season a little too soon. Still looks yummy!

Assignment: Capture a shower.
Problem: The front door is under guard by an angry mother.

Last snow?

It may be the final snow of the season. Or not. But our deer came out to forage anyway. We LOVE our backyard!

Last snowfall

It might be our last big snowfall of the season. It's certainly one of the most beautiful.

Frozen forensics

It snowed last night (again). Ugh. But looking at the positive in the situation, it provided as easy way to determine who had been visiting during the wee small hours.

Last week temperatures flirted around 60. This morning was an entirely different story as nature decided to show off.

We know - it's not a great shot. BUt something about the under-lit clouds and the tapestry effect grabbed us. And considering that it's from our driveway, we just had to post.

Hail

Exciting night here in the village. Hail was about 1" diameter and in just two minutes completely covered our deck and driveway.

Despite the glum economic news it's hard to stay down when we're blessed with sunsets like this one from tonight.

While scouting locations for a future wedding shoot, we checked out this covered bridge on Everett Road near Bath, OH.

Rainbows are well known to bring luck. A double rainbow tonight greeted us as Kathy and I met with our daughter Sarah and her fiance' Scott to plan their wedding.

Passersby often stop to wonder at how we're able to grow such prolific cactus here along Lake Erie's North Coast.

Yes, deer

OK, the nursing fawn a week or so ago was cute. And Momma deer lurking in our fern forest is pretty. But . . .

. . . three deer plus three fawns is starting to stress the food chain here. Anyone have any good venison recipes?

Bull

These critters live with the six dogs at Cliffs modest home near Tampa.
