Reveal (at last!)

Here's the definition of "anticlimactic". Our renovation is now (almost) complete. I still need to build brackets for the background drops in the posing area. But , other than that, we're ready to invite clients in to the new studio/showroom. Our goal was to create a space that is comfortable and that allows us to interact with our clients with minimal distraction - focusing on our work. Did we get 'er done?

Photo kitty

Benny the photo-dog has appeared here numerous times, and he's certain to appear many more. But Babbycakes, the British shorthair cat, who grudgingly shares the space with Benny prefers to stay in the background. We do occasionally find her enjoying the studio environment. In this case, with a pseudo-cat of rabbit fur. Baby decided to take the low road in this image. Pseudo-cat is yet un-named. But we're open to suggestions.

Lunar eclipse

Whatever success we've had certainly isn't related to our skills as astronomers. But we had a spectacular display of the lunar eclipse a couple of days ago here in N.E. Ohio and I couldn't resist snapping off a couple frames . . .It really makes you appreciate the skills of those who devote their talents to capturing astronomical events for the rest of us to enjoy. Hitesman Photography isn't in that rare niche.

Veronica

Kathy's mother moved in with us about 18 months ago and what an 18 months it has been. Surgery to implant two cardiac stents followed by two more major surgeries to replace first her left and then her right hips. But after all that trauma she's doing remarkably well at 89. Of course Benny the photo-dog has to get into at least every other blog entry.

Rishi rides!

Rishi stopped over for a visit this morning and, as always, wanted to play dress-up with my motorcycle gear.

He certainly exhibits the right attitude! But the food doesn't fit the "tough guy" image he's working for. And since he's a vegetarian, we won't tell Nita that we served him grizzly bears for lunch . . .

Reveal (still)

It seems that our much publicized "reveal" is taking much longer than expected, but we hope the delays will prove worth the wait. We've got new furniture on order and it won't be here until mid-March (sure!). But our showplace canvas gallery wrap arrived to day and is installed in the entrance hall. What do you think?

Experimentation

Kathy loves to develop new techniques and products. Although Ethan's photo session was quite some time ago, she was playing with formats and created this today . . .

Reveal delayed:(

We've been working hard to create a comfortable environment for our friends to visit with us and review our work, preview their photos and in general, bask in the emotions of the photography that results from the fusion of our creativity with our clients' emotions. But we've run into snags.

The same attention to detail that is characteristic of our photography guides our efforts to design the appropriate environment.

We're currently awaiting the large screen monitor and a large format (56" x 56") print that will enhance the experience for our visitors.

We're also awaiting the delivery of a backdrop that will become a permanent component of our studio.

And I've got one issue that defies all my efforts. If I can't resolve it in the nest couple of days, I'll be returning here to ask for your help. The issue is to display 2 large scale images (approximately 30" x 47" space) in a manner that enables quick-change but doesn't distract from the image itself. If I can't figure out a solution I'll be asking for your ideas soon.

High School Play

Kathy continues to serve as advisor to the local high school publications staff and loves training student photographers. But that job requires her to take some photos herself. Here's the cast in rehearsal for their latest production . . .
